adik just turned 18 months last 23rd jan 2012. he is indeed one chatter box, just like abang. but i personally think that he talks more than his abang. he has a mind of his own too. cheeky, naughty, big bully is how i describe this son of mine. his abang is always his victim. check out his fake smile here! we were at ikea on CNY eve to scout some furniture for the boys' room as well as our wardrobe.

ilham was taking a nap when we reached ikea. but his sleep was interrupted by the noisy ikea customers. dah bangun, terus makan fries and meatballs.

he refused to accept mommy's assistance on feeding him. he wants to eat on his own now

then comes meatballs. please excuse the sharp adult fork. ikea ran out of kids fork that day

then termenung for a bit before continuing eating the meatball

here's what he turned to after finishing his meal. abang was at smaland having some fun with new friends.

at 18 months, i would consider him as independant. pandai amik water bottle sendiri. throw rubbish in the bin. placed his empty milk bottle (abang's bottles too) on the designated table. throw his worn clothes in the laundry bin, pandai main sendiri, makan sendiri. and whener he wants to poo, he would pat my hand and point on his bum bum, to either tell me he's done or about to poo.

as for his favourite words, it would be : CAR, FASSSS (car la tu), MOMMY (me and he calls his abang mommy too!), AIE (his daddy), NAH (when he renders something to me), BASH (bus), GO FAST and FAST CAR, TADDAAAAA (when he surprises you with something in his hand).

but whenever he's telling me something (that i have no idea what it is) would be "GO VA GA VI NA FASS"
so yes, this is my 18 months very ligat son soon to be one big abang.

netty's wedding metting

darling husband's cousin is getting hitched soon! so a wedding meeting was held at her home in damansara height to discuss about the preps and all. but the girls were more interested to know more about which designer u tempah baju, design apa and etc. ha ha ha...

my two actual outfits for netty's nikah & reception felda dah siap, a complete suit of lace & corsets. however, i had to make another 2 formal outfits since at that time, i didnt know that i was pregnant. and i consider myself lucky that my new 2 outfits dah siap. alhamdullilah....

since the events are 4 days and the designer still have ample time to make more outfits for me, so i made another 2 pieces! tee he he he.... tamak! so all together i have 4 outfits for the wedding. but at this point of time, those outfits are still with the designer as a lot of beadwork and lace patching needed to be done.

i hope i look good in them. told the designer, i dont want those bajus looking like a sarung nangka! ha ha ha... we'll see...

balik kampung : singapore

the hezrins were in singapore for a couple days. it was a few days away from christmas when we took the chance to shop, makan and shop and makan lah! we stayed at my nenek's home in simei and nothing much we did in singapore as i was physically unfit to be ligat as i can be in singapore. nausea developed and i was feeling exhausted most of the time.

though i was unwell but we went shopping nevertheless. most of my baju dah ketat and i need a bigger size clothes now. so darling husband brought us jalan-jalan, shop, makan then balik. that's all we knew! no matter how penat i was, i insisted that we took the MRT to orchard road and left our car parked at nenek's block. i knew iman was looking forward for that MRT ride, so i gave in.

here's how we start our day...

at breakfast. my nenek assisted adik with his breakfast. that morning i made iman and ilham chicken porridge (iman and porridge are inseparable!) but ilham insisted on meehoon goreng instead. habis 1 pinggan!

after breakfast, they ambused nenek's desktop. they logged in, iman double clicked mozilla tab and they googled youtube. they watched all sorts of cartoons from tom and jerry, garfield, mickey mouse, cars 2, toy story, ultraman, wordworld among others.

then off we went for MRT ride to orchard road!

ever since i found out that i was preggers, only a few friends knew that i was in that state. you know, those people who you can trust to accompany you when your cravings become apparent. so this missy was one of them. so on 20 december 2011, i begged her to accompany me for dinner at dave's deli @ subang parade.

darling husband was working late attending to his office matters, the kids are safe at my parents' home with the made so i had a clear mind to have a damn good meal.

dave's deli have been my favourite joint for its home cooked beef lasagne + mashed potato since i was carrying iman way back in 2006. sometimes, when i needed some 'me-time' while having scrumptious meal, i would go there, be all by myself and dine alone. after a good hair wash and the salon that is.

btw dave's deli have revamped its brand. and the food tastes a lot better now. do go there and try their food!

Darling husband and I visited my gynae yesterday. Syukur alhamdullilah, I am now nearing to 12^th week of pregnancy. Actually, yesterday was my second visit and if you have read my previous posts, I was on a mission to lose some weight. Darling husband’s cousin getting hitched and of course I wanna look great in corsets. Ha ha ha…

Little did I know, as my system getting used to the new healthy regime, exercising every single day, watching my food intake, I conceived. Frankly speaking my pregnancy news came as a happy surprise for both of darling husband and i. It was unexpected and I am still haven’t overcome this initial shock.

Sometime in November I did missed my period, but I ignored! I was already started my exercise regime. But ever since I started, I whined about feeling tired. Sampaikan everyday after coming home from my 1 hour regime, I knocked out! But darling husband says it could possibly be that my body isn’t used to the new routine. but he didnt know that my breast were sore, my tummy was bloated due to the expansion of the little ms womb.

Then on 15 dec 2011, I bought home pregnancy tester from the pharmacy and did the test before going to bed. And the rest as they say is history.

As you all know, I have 2 boys. Iman is 6 in November 2012 while ilham will be 18 months this 23^rd. So I know some of you might think I wish for a daughter, but sincerely, I don’t mind to have another boy. If hezrin #3 is a girl, then it’s a bonus for the family. So long #3 is healthy, I am more than grateful.

this was during my 1st visit to the gynae. i was 7 weeks pregnant and that day we spotted #3's heartbeat and i have developed some food cravings.

while this shot from yesterday's visit. i was 11 weeks and 5 days. #3 was actively swimming and bouncing while the ultrasound was ongoing. we spotted the nose bridge, well developed spine, the hands and feet and of course the well formed skull. syukur alhamdullilah.

since this is my 3rd pregnancy, i feel more drained than before. never i have imagined that i would lose my strength to even entertain my boys at home. penat sangat. but i tend not to nap. nanti lagi malas. so i move on a slower pace and less mall hopping!

so there you go. that explains why we needed a room for iman and ilham, yes... to make space for #3 in our master bedroom. we needed a bigger and new wardrobe for more clothes as the family is growing bigger. but our new home is ready just in time when i just discovered that i was a preggers. tu rezeki #3. our new house is meant for #3, perhaps for his/hers education fund (if he/she fail to obtain a scholarship) or as a bachelor pad when he/she started working.

as for now, i have to eat healthily, be watchful of what i eat and still look good. so yes, the pregnancy news is indeed rezeki penutup tahun. thank you for the rezeki and everything that we have now. we are indeed grateful. syukur alhamdullilah.

on 18 dec 2011, my friends and i went for dimsum brunch. while darling husband is out at the golf course entertaining his clients, i was entertained by my dear friends. as usual, i malas nak drive, so i hopped in nadya's car and off we went to the hotel.

yaaayyyyyy...... so on 13 dec 2011, finally daddy can put his work on hold and brought the whole clan to genting for another fun day for the kids. it was on a tuesday when we made our way to genting, leaving home right after breakfast. fortunately, there was no traffic on our way there and it was a balmy breeze weather.

as soon as we reached genting, we all had lunch, didnt waste anytime and went straight to the ticket counter for the entry tickets.

it was still the school holidays when i brought these 3 boys to berjaya times square theme park for a jolly good time. i am an ULTIMATE BELIEVER of rewarding children for the good grades and when they are at their best behaviour. i am also the type of mother who gives them 'death' penalty for every wrongdoings. children deserve to be punished. they must learn that the world out there is a harsh place. so as parents, we need to prepare them for the worst. well, this is what i think and believe in.

frankly speaking, taking them boys to this theme park is nothing. infact, i can take them there at any time of the year. but i refrain myself from doing so. rewards is just like respect. they need to earn it. so i made sure that these kids behave well a week prior taking them for a treat. i also made sure (iman especially) finished his workbooks that i assigned, done with revision and reading every single day, did some artwork in order to earn this treat.

and as for ilham, he would imitate what ever his abang does. so every single day after they both had breakfast, they bathe and iman is ready to start on his workbooks and reading. so ilham would be sitting with his abang at their table, with a pencil or crayon in his hand. if not, he would stick his nose to the story books.

these 2 are cousins. jazyl adam is my sister's son and they became instant bestfriend. tapi kalau gaduh, they both can be each other's worst enemy.

while this one has no bestfriend yet. but lucky thing this little man of mine plays on his own, creates his own game and can have fun with or without a friend. but when he has a friend, he can be the best friend one could find.

we spent 7 hours at the theme park. despite of them being very busy enjoying most of the rides, iman had 3 milk breaks in between fun time that day.

10.1.2012 : had not quite a good day yesterday. i ordered new curtains for all the rooms upstairs including the kitchen and they have arrived. the newbies really dresses up my windows. all the rooms look cozier! but the bad news is, 2 pcs were short. so i had to go back to the shop, explain and get them replaced ASAP before they run out of stock.

then, in the afternoon i had someone over at our home to measure up our wardrobe room. gotta get new wardrobes done ASAP. i have chosen the design and material so i hope he will submit the quotations and technical drawings within this week.

then, when darling husband is back home from the office, he finally got a contractor who could do up our boys room at a very good price. so insyaAllah, once the new wardrobe is done, the hezrins will be shifting room to the existing guest room before the contractor ripe off our master bedroom as well as the TV room. i hope everything will go according to our plans.

so both darling husband and i are excited that we are adding another room to our 5-bedroom home. soon it will be 6 bedrooms and i hope the maid could cope up with the cleaning. darling husband decides that it is the time for the boys to sleep in their own bedroom, and we should be getting a whole new wardrobe done, to extend our master bedroom so that it would be bigger than its current size. and so far that is it!

so once the boys room is up, i shall go shopping for furniture. and iman has decided to have a splash of red paint on his new room wall. ok lah! mommy ikut je, as long as he sleeps in his own room with ilham. no more camping in our room. iman existing single bed shall be moved to the boys room soon!

then, later in the evening darling husband and i went to pasar malam in sect 6. i was craving for chee cheong fun. bought them but i was devastated that it turn out very tak sedap. geram sgt! so today, after fetching iman from school, i will bring the boys and maid to delicious @ OU for carbonara galore!

and today; 11.1.2011, i just called up the developer of our new home. they havent done anything to our house since i submitted the defect check report. so indeed, today is the continuation of another bad day. sobs!

art attack day with the boys

art attack is one of favourite activities with my boys. i can spend countless hours at my kids ikea table, coloring and drawing. iman and i share the same interest. unlike ilham. he gets very displeased having seen the mess iman and i made at the table.

i guess he's too young to understand. but when iman was at his age, iman enjoyed every single second of art attack i had with him. i guess ilham needs more 'practice'. he's gotta learn the beauty of having fun and getting all messy once in a while.

the stuffs i retained for years. some of those brushes are way older than iman. such a hoarder i am!

4 years apart. they both enjoyed playing football, berebut ipad and the tv remote! so what else is new???

abang picked his favourite color first! this has continued since he was barely 1 year old.

before the school holidays commence in november 2011, i did ask iman where does he wants to go during the school holidays. so other than london (obviously daddy will never approve our application for now), he wants to visit the zoo.

it zoo it was on 2 dec 2011. not only iman was excited, his bibik was also over the moon having known that i was bringing the whole clan to the zoo. yelah, she claims that the only animal she have seen before was only 'KOMODO' in other words in malay is BIAWAK. ha ha ha...

so let's cut the story short and i let the photos speak for itself yea...

4 jan 2012 : it was iman's second day of orientation yesterday. it was held at his school for 2 days from 830-1030am. so after fetching him from school i dropped by the grocers and managed to get kuey teow basah, tauhu, bean sprout and daun kuchai. went home, washed them and cooked up a simple dish for lunch.

just so you know, i havent been well lately. no fever but just feeling slightly unwell. am also losing appetite to eat my favourite dishes. but whenever i feel like eating something, i immediately beli the raw items and cook them up. otherwise, there's plenty of joint i could get food from.

5 jan 2012 : iman tak ada school today. today and tomorrow is orientation for pre-nursery, nursery and reception students. school will resume on monday. i have no plans to take them out today. perhaps will do some activities at home.

school holiday pet!

iman been nagging me to get him yet another pet fish. not that he had any other choice, but our family dont fancy any furry animals in our house. say no to cats, hamsters and rabbits!

so since it was the school holiday, i made iman promise and make an effort to 'jaga' and be responsible of his new pet. after promises and another promises, i finally brought him to the aquarium in shah alam. at the back of my mind, i wanted to get him the fighting fish that doesnt require a large amount of maintenance. the fish is so cheap. bought it at RM3.50 only! what a steal, i tell you!

a laidback weekend @ kizsports

all geared up with socks and comfy clothes

so here's a shot before they get all masam and sweaty!

daddy was out golfing with his clients that day and giving me the chance to have a laidback weekend with my boys. laidback mean no cooking the whole day. ha ha ha.... yeah! so our day was well spent at empire. brought the kids to kizsports. the kids had so much fun, especially iman who was looking forward to make new friends and have fun with them.

ilham on the other hand, still gerun to join the big boys. so he sticks to the ball pit and i did brought him to the slides. he enjoyed the slides more than anything else. sampai mommy pun all drenched in sweat lah!

as for their tea breaks i bought a couple of pastries from the loaf and served them with warm milo. soon after tea, the boys hit the slides again. then daddy called saying that he's on his way home, making us decide to call it a day. it was indeed a long day spent at kidzsports. i think we were there for more than 4 hours! ha ha ha....

it was the school holidays when i promised iman for a movie date. so off we went to MBO for happy feet 2. this young man, was indeed super excited. all he asked for a large popcorn.

it was the 25th day in the month of november when my exersice buddy left for a holiday leaving me brisk walking alone. and i later join the low impact aerobic group.

then, i went home with breakfast with me. not knowing that darling husband was at home and tak masuk office, of course i didnt buy breakfast for him. then he went out to get a few things done and later i received a call from him saying that he's picking me up for lunch.

so we went to the nearest japanese joint near home. sakai sushi @ SP that is. lunch we all had!

syukur alhamdullilah, ever since iman attended iqra' class on 22 november 2011, his learning accelerates tremendously. his classes are on every tuesday and thurday. previously i had a tough time getting his to learn jawi. he claims that learning A, B C is good enough to read the books, write letters to friends and spell on his ipad.

he said;

iman : mommy, i dont think i need to learn iqra'. i dont have books that have alif, ba, ta, my ipad keypad doesnt even have those letters. so i dont need to learn them mommy.

oh yes! this son of mine have a mind of his own. sometimes pening nak jawab. but having one strict ustazah and good friends at iqra' class did the magic! iman is so looking forward to iqra' class and having friends like kakak soraya, mikhail and niyaz did contribute interest in him. syukur alhamdullilah.

on 21 november 2011, i took iman, ilham and the maid for a train ride to klcc. our journey starts from sect 19 commuter station to KL sentral and lrt ride from KL sentral to KLCC.

iman and ilham are just being themselves, overly excited with the rides that day. on our way to klcc, iman managed to finish off 2 slices of pizza for tea while ilham drinks his milk and munched on 2 pcs of cookies. while i on the other hand, starved myself as i didnt have anything to munch on but saving up my tummy for early dinner with darling husband.

years ago, i bought this super silky material and had no idea what to do with it. so it was kept nicely in a paper wrap and well reserved for one important event. i think i bought it when i was holidaying in australia, if am not mistaken. entah, tak ingat.

so there was a time when my arwah nenek came over to my home and i showed her this piece and ask what i should do with this material. well, being my nenek, she's outspoken. she says whatever that comes to her mind.

nenek : nape beli color kusam macam ni, nong.... lain kali beli la color yg molek sikit. nong ni dah macam mama dah, asyik beli color hitam je. gelap naaaa tu. pakai la pink ke, hijau ke, kuning air ke. kan molek... ah dah la, simpan je. tak suka nenek tengok!

well, i guess i took her words well. dah lama sangat peram kain ni.

but my mom thinks other wise.

mama : darling, leopard print never goes out of fashion! it has been fashion staple for decades. splurge on one good material and you can wear it for years.

so years have gone by, and after much consideration and now that i am indeed in need for over-sized formal attires for formal occasions, i guess it's about time to jahit kain ni. frankly speaking, i have piled up a couple of pounds lately. so most of my baju tak muat. i shall send this material to my seamstress tomorrow lah.

actually, i have an idea to transform this loud print kain into a kaftan. you know, my skin tone is far from fair. so bak kata my nenek, KUSAM! so i am thinking to add blood orange lace trimmings for this piece once it is transformed into a kaftan. we'll see, how it turns out. i shall update soon!

speaking of kain peram, while i was going thru my very old pile of kain, i found this on my elcheapo ikea sofa in my bedroom. it was ilham who went stationary under my batik pareo. ha ha ha!! adik.... adik....

i realized that this year end's school holidays, our diaries are packed with weddings. family weddings is one of them. so 19 november 2011, we were at darling husband's cousin's wedding reception held in SA. it was also my dad's 62nd birthday. but he was away with my mom in east coast attending my cousin's reception.

the morning of the reception, darling husband, iman, ilham and the maid were all at the hotel for rehearsals while i was busy at the saloon getting my hair done. you know, it's a saturday and most saloons especially the one i go to is full with customers. so i dont want to take the risk, takut tak sempat siap.

then at 230pm, our make up artist is already waiting at the hotel to paint our bare faces. all 13 of us needed to get our faces done. so that's the fun of getting ready that day.

so that was our night on the 19th. indeed, a great night to remember.

quench my thirst & hunger

just today alone, i have had 3 glasses of this! sirap longan sejuk. no ice. too much ice in this hot weather can cause sore throat. so tak boleh!

then, cooked this up for myself and the kids for snacks after lunch tadi. home made mini fried chicken. well marinated in semua benda for 2 hours, coupled with mayonnaise with sprinkle of home mixed herbs, cherry tomatoes and thinly sliced celery.

after iman and ilham had lunch, they had this and later a bottle of milk. iman is now at iqra' class and ilham taking a nap. and i havent bathe yet. ha ha ha... i was busy doing defect check report since morning. weeeee.... yup, we just received the keys to our another new home. syukur alhamdullilah.

but we're not moving. just another home for investment purposes. insyaAllah, more rezeki to come. do pray for us yeah. thanking you in advance.

on monday, we went to delicious @ dua residency for lunch. while the maid was unloading some stuffs from the car, i saw a malay girl in hijab smoking at the back of the building. hijab and smoking ciggies dont jive ok! it makes me sick! i know it's not my problem but that awful sight i had that afternoon literally breaks my heart. i kid you not!

then, one girl that i know, is now wearing hijab. good for her! but one thing that my friends are annoyed by her is that she 'berkhutbah' not stop to some of my lady friends about berdosa tak pakai tudung etc. well, some of these ladies are not hijab wearers. little did she know, people are talking behind her back. one did tell straight to her face. who does she thinks she is? doesnt she remember where she comes from?

all of my friends know her past. she was a chain smoker and only takes dunhill. she was a party princess and parties all night like a rockstar. she drinks alcohol excessively like a fish. she wears colored nails almost all the time. i shall stop here and shall not say more especially on the man she slept with and cheated.

and just because the positive changes she made to herself, doesnt mean that people forget her past. oh please. when the time is right, one will change. tapi jangan sibuk nak 'berkhutbah'. she must remember that she has daughters to raise and to ensure that they will turn out to be like her and not repeat her 'history'. am certain it is not one easy task to guarantee the daughters will not mirrored the mother. GOD IS FAIR.

i'd like to offer my dearest apologies for whining. but at this point of time, the hormone is not cooperating. asyik nak marah je.

'laden' as how iman says it when he was little, is one of the most places i have been since i barely walk and talk and it had become the city i am in love with. though i have been to several other countries and have experienced living in other cities, but london remains the best and makes me fall in love with it again and again.

but darling husband prefers the states than england. why? sebab shopping murah gila! betul la tu. and plenty of other things to explore there. tu pun betul jugak. he claims that england is for old people. very monotonous and ancient, and not much of development. well, he can say whatever he desires but i know i wont get bored with london. well, sometimes i do get bored but that doesnt mean that i love USA more than the UK. oh please. ha ha ha...

but at this age, darling husband and i are looking forward to the invitation to hajj. perhaps, another round of umrah before hajj. insyaAllah if rezeki permits. talking about rezeki, it's the 28th december 2011 today and another 3 more days to the new year. the hezrins is in the midst of transition. health wise, we are fine. syukur alhamdullilah. on top of that, darling husband is working on something else better for the family and it has shown positive signs. alhamdullilah.

while we are looking forward to the transition, it was indeed another happy news we received for the family. and if my nenek is still here with us, i know she would tell me this, "ni lah rezeki penutup tahun".

what ever it is, we are grateful with what we have now. and insyaAllah, tak lupa diri.

ok, that's all for now. i am plain lazy and pretty tired as the hezrins just got home from singapore for xmas. we dropped by johor premium outlet, put a night at darling husband's gramp's home in larkin and had an early start to SA.

yesterday, we went to pavillion for breakfast and lunch, shopped baju, then went to my inlaws' home. left the kids there with the maid and darling husband went to MBO and watched MI4 : ghost protocol.

it was indeed a tiring week for me! i need more rest!

the last day of school was real kids plus bukit jelutong's telematch. it was held at the school's hall and all students were dressed in their gym attires. iman was sent to school as usual, reaching the school by 815am and i rushed back home to get ready and ensure that ilham is well-fed, dah mandi and we are all ready for the event. as we enter the school hall, it was iman's class to be in action. talking about perfect timing here.

all he said to me;

"mommy, i want dinosaur party for my birthday this year. im gonna be 5 years old! dinosaur party please".

scouted these non woven bags at a very good price, so i bought 130pcs for both iman and ilham's birthday bashes. i reserved 25 pcs of green ones for the dinosaur bash. 22pcs for students, 2 for teachers and 1 special one for the principle.

little did i know, iman had everything decided for his birthday. i.e. color scheme, party bags color, he prefers cupcakes instead of a big cake. mini dinosaur figurines on every cupcake and etc.

from the sample cupcakes i googled, i improvised them and managed to come out with my own design. simple yet something what iman likes. more importantly, each students from sincerity class will take home them figurines. these are maxi vanilla cupcakes, ridiculously smeared with green colored vanilla flavoured soft icing and freshly shredded cadbury plain milk chocolate on top.

in a low tone, i told iman that i will try my very best to fulfill his wishes. after all, only a small budget required for the party as it's held at school (no tents required, no catering, no huge cakes, no birthday banner etc.) so i went to toys r us a couple of months prior to his birthday bash and found those dinosaur figurines and i googled sample cupcakes for my reference.

then, i bought extra green non woven bags when i purchased them for ilham's 1st birthday bash. ala, it's only for 22 students. so i was very generous with the loots each student takes home, from snacks, stickers, candies, key chains, stationaries among others. on top of that i got a friend who did ilham's candy bar to design gift tags for the party bags. other than that, a photog friend has agreed to snap pictures throughout the bash, so i thought everything was taken care of.

my attempt at baking. i dont have passion in baking but i had to it for iman's sake.

tengok tu... this what happen when this mommy bakes. tinggi, pendek... tinggi, pendek! ish, malu je....

so here comes the headache, i did mention to my favourite baker to bake 30 maxi cupcakes for the bash BUT SHE DECIDED TO LEAVE FOR PARIS WITH HER FAMILY and only balik one day before the event. aiyah! then in panic mode, i called another friend asking her to bake but to my surprise she had prior plans and her hands are full. FINE lah! at that time, i knew i had to put a chef's hat on.

so i went to bakery supplies store, bought all those ingredients and other stuffs and started baking. i went to MIL's to bake since i know i will be in good hands should anything goes wrong. i know MIL will be a strict critic and will never tell lies, especially when it come to baking for kids, all ingredients has got to be nutritious and less sugar used.

so it was indeed one mind-boggling moments i experienced. but i think it managed to pull it through. the birthday went well, syukur alhamdullilah. most importantly, the birthday boy was over the moon throughout the bash. double joy it was!

real kids plus bukit jelutong organized class party for the whole school last november. this means, all students are encouraged to wear party clothes and bring party packs for their classmates. indeed, iman was excited having known that there will be games and more to enjoy.

sometimes i pity iman as he doesnt understand why daddy is super busy. almosy everyday when he wakes up, he would ask where his daddy is. and every night before he goes to bed, and if his daddy isnt home yet, he would ask if daddy is fine. this young boy of mine has a mind of a 40 year old man. both darling husband and i are amazed with his concerns towards many things including his bibik.

so abang iman hezrin turns FIVE on 5 november 2011 and we took him out for lunch at meatworks @ citta mall. he didnt want a birthday bash at home and he decided that he celebrates his big day at school with his classmates and teachers. so at school it is!

it was the day after HRH when her wedding reception was held. it was indeed another family reunion and get together. the theme color was peach and darling husband was lucky that the hezrins had the baju coincide with the theme color. so peach it was!

desserts welcome guests and families. but it was ilham and his mommy frequent the tables here more than other guests. blame the sweet tooth that runs in our system.

the hezrins celebrated HRH in SA and KL. instead of solat and breakfast at my inlaws' house, we decided to solat at masjid negeri SA. as early as 8am, we left home. as expected, ramai org and the masjid was packed. i had to solat on the 1st floor instead of the usual place i usually solat.

after solat, while walking back to our car, we got some ice creams and went home. then, we got ready, the kids are all nicely dressed in their yellow-green baju melaju complete with matching sampin and songkok. on the way to my inlaws' house, we were invited for a round of BBQ brunch at our neighbor's house.

from the first time i held hezrin #1 in the labour room of SJMC on 5 november 2006 at exactly 1:06 am, i felt i am a complete woman. you know, i have dated, worked my ass off, left the rat race for good + worked for the family business, got engaged, got married, managed a small business of my own, shed some pounds for my wedding day, piled on 10 buckets full of fat, grew a shrek feet nearing to my labour and finally delivered a healthy and beautiful baby boy at 28 years of age.

all the life experiences i had gone through was breathtaking. it was indeed life-changing.

to my dearest abang iman hezrin, happy 5th birthday sayang! you've grown into a fine young man!

abang, you will face many choices in the years to come and i know in my heart you will make choices that are wise, bright and healthy. choices that will help you become the best man you can be. both daddy and i look forward to helping you make those choices and guiding you towards little manhood the best way we know how.

i met an old friend sometime last week, my oh my i couldnt believe it myself that it has been almost a decade since i last saw her. she got married soon after she graduated her masters degree while i on the other hand still clueless of what i wanted in life. her life pace picked up as soon as she graduated. she graduated then got married, and not long after that she secured a good job with highly paid salary. then a few months down the road, she was pregnant. then came another baby in the family.

both of us went different directions from then on as we had no common interest at that point of time. then, she contacted me while serving her edah. yup at 29, she's a corporate high flyer single mom of THREE! i on the other hand had less than 3 years of marriage and raising iman hezrin who was barely 2 years old.

she told me she's better of as a single mom. luckily she has 2 responsible and loyal maids who had been with her for more than 6 years and 1 driver who chauffers her and the kids to work, school, extra classes and etc. so i guess she's done with her marriage and moving on with her new life.

i am happy that she's single parenting her kids well, i mean all her 3 kids are all provided with the best education ever. more importantly, she has financially independence and has an excellent career path. i believe that's a good start to raise your kids single handedly.

i know there were times, she needed a shoulder to cry on, to let loose of the stress from work and the incapability of balancing a great life, a promising yet demanding career and her 3 kids who pleads a hands on soccer mom.

i hope all is well with her! i know i am not in a position to advice nor to comment on her new single life. but i know her new found 'freedom' is what she's been longing for. good for you, my dear friend!

01nov2011 - i almost died laughing. iman had phonics homework to complete. so when he returned from school, dropped his bag on the chair, put his milk bottle on the table (he drinks 260ml of milk on the way home everyday), and requested for lunch.

then it was homework time. so he took out his phonics exercise book and started whining about his homework. so there i was, starring at his book and went total silent. being a fat cheerleader that i am, stood by my son with color pencils. iman had problems with drawing, you see. well, he's not alone. his parents are to be blamed. both darling husband and i cant even draw a stick figure that looks normal. ha ha ha...

he did well didnt he? well, there's always room for improvement, kan?

so with my disability, how on earth i can help my son? but i know i had no choice in my hands and iman has to endure 'the pain' just like his parents did. both darling husband and i are from the science stream and thank god they had no pendidikan seni!

i think he did well with the clown but not the owl. darling husband said it looked like 'satan', instead.

it was an impromptu plan. i was online and going through my FB messages when i saw my nephew's status. then a light bulb emerged and the rest is history. i rushed the kids and maid for their swimming gears and drove to my cousin's place nearby home.

iman had no idea that i was bringing him swimming at the his cousin's place with his cousins. he thought i was bringing him to our unit @ 231TR for a swim but little did he know, cousins + fun await him!

i managed to whip darling husband up for a round of movie. iman tagged along but we had to leave ilham and the maid at my parents' home for a couple of hours. so it was movie and kenny rogers for dinner. it was at MBO where we watched real steel and it was our first time there. ok lah, not bad! there was no traffic and ample parking. what do you expect from thursday crowd?

i went brisk walking with aunty nu, who is my aerobic mate, who i just found out that she lives just 3 minutes walk from my home. she is also happen to be darling husband's friend's mom. so this aunty nu is a 64 year-old grandma, very energetic lady with a zest for life who enjoys bukit climbing every sunday @ bukit cherakah. though she has been in the country for the last 7 years; she's a diplomat's wife who has been all over the world accompanying her husband serving the govt, but her time everyday is occupied with socializing with her friends and new buddies. her husband is now retired but he's one of the bilal at our surau near home, who also joins our aerobic group.

so while brisk walking with her last saturday, she advices in penang slang;

"rin, lepas solat asar nanti, jgn lupa baca doa akhir tahun. 3 kali naaaa... then after solat maghrib, doa awal tahun 3 kali pulak. jgn lupa naa, aunty habaq awai2, takut aunty lupa!"

one thing i like joining the elderly group, i was given plenty of advices;

no matter how busy i am, jangan lengah solat. always doa dgn penuh keyakinan.

ALPHABET PARTY preps

22 oct 2011 was ILHAM HEZRIN's FIRST birthday bash. as usual, the party was held at home. this time, it was alphabet themed party for him. im glad that many of our guests turned up and everything sailed smoothly. i have just received the CD of images from the official photographer but i shall serve you what i have from my humble samsung camera ok. all these images were from the party preps.

so.... the above were all taken from the party eve. there was no hiccups at all. alhamdullilah. but the morning of the party was a hectic one. darling husband and i went out for breakfast and later we headed to the pasar in sect 6 SA to get 10 ekor ayam. when we reached home, the maids wash and clean them up before i roll up my sleeves to marinate them. it is a tradition in the family that most of our food served to the guests are all home cooked. so the fried chicken was one of them. habis kuning all my fingers + hands gaul ayam in the marinated sauce.

then, the tent company came to redo the tents they set up the night before as it was raining heavily with thunder and lightning, and of cause the strong wind.

the birthday boy, a few hours before his party begins. he was all in jolly good mood! the t-shirt suits him well.

here is one of the chief decor personnel; netty who was having her lunch in my super messy kitchen. please excuse the mess. if you study this image, you could spot the cut cucumber and 3 containers of sambal udang made my MIL. while bibik su frying the chicken on our kitchen floor, we had air gula in that medium sized pot on the stove. far right is the first batch of the washed beras. MIL was abt to start cooking her signature nasi lemak!

abang's school field trip

on 21 oct 2011, iman and the rest of his school mates went on a field trip to FRIM for a picnic. so our day that day starts earlier as all of us had to be at the school latest by 8am. all the students were gathered in the school's hall while waiting for the buses to arrive.

at 8am sharp, all 3 big buses; 1 school bus and 2 tourism buses arrived. student by student were loaded in their respective bus. iman got every excited when he sees the bus.

at first, iman was kinda terrified of this field trip. all he had his mind was that he's gonna have sandwiches in the jungle. ha ha ha... but little did he know, fun awaits him! i had a chat with the principle and was told that the students will be introduced to the nature, brunch by the waterfall and a little games with the insects and etc.

now i understand how hard it was for my parents to say no to me and siblings. yes, to all three of us. from the beginning when i dated darling husband way back in late 2004 then we got married a year later i knew that he's one nurturing and caring in the family setting.

at that point of time, i knew there's another man in my life who hardly every say no to others. when he's good at what he's doing, i know i have to be on the same page as he is. i will reward my sons when they achieve something which i strongly believe that it is a good parental strategy which helps me take control. the satisfaction i get of watching them working towards positive goals in return, is way over the top.

as mush as i want to be a happy parent, sometimes i tend to lose control. but i know, i have to stay focus. when darling husband is the sole breadwinner, the leader and shoulders a father's roles, his hands are tight. so i have to take charge of the household when he isnt at home.

the other day, i received a call from iman's class teacher expressing her gratitude of iman's spelling and reading progress. so i knew he needed a little reward to boost his interest and confidence. so all he wanted was to swim with his adik and have pizza for dinner. so swimming it was and pizza we all had.

i am surprised with iman's social and emotional development lately. he has been showing extreme caring attitude towards his adik. adik on the other hand had been harsh to the brother, stealing abang's toys and hide it in his cot or throw abang's school books in the dustbin. READ : VERY NAUGHTY THIS ONE!

abang pandai kecek daddy! one of the things that really got on my nerves.

a few years ago, i was told by some mothers say that assigning chores to my son will give caring attitude in him. so i did, as early as iman was one year old. one of iman's first assignments were putting his milk bottles on the table, throw rubbish in the dustbin, returning his books back to the shelves, throw worn clothes in the laundry basket etc. it was challenging at first, but it helps him pretty much to learn of his responsibilities.

but what i am really worried about iman hezrin is that of late, he had become one stubborn boy and developed demanding behaviour. worried i am! for the last 2 months, i did express my concern to darling husband who is well-expected with his son's behaviour.

"they soon becoming a man. they'll take the lead. so now, let them face their bad decisions downfall. let them regain themselves after that. let them experience success from their good judgements. let them."

the hezrins, netty and tasha organized a small get together to celebrate october babies. netty was the mastermind and it was indeed a last-minute lunch but it turned out to be a very fun outing with the cousins. we checked out and dined at a new joint. the ambiance was perfect and food was over the top.

i have to admit that of late, that i am plain lazy to go online, checking my FB acct and update my blog. as you all know the school holiday is here and i have been super busy attending to iman's needs throughout the holidays. iman has started iqra' class, twice a week, and i have long list of activities to do and places to bring him to during the holidays.

my initial plan was to flee off somewhere for a short getaway with my little nuclear family, however darling husband is working on a project of his own. so if this kicks off well, then we shall go, insyaAllah. it has been quite a few late nights for him on top of his office work. when everything is in place, all we need is a lucky charm.

other than that, i have started going brisk walking and aerobic everyday with a dear neighbour of mine. i hope this will last longer than i imagine. i wanna stay fit! my dear neighbour is a 53-year-old mother of 4 while our aerobic instructor is a 65-year-old grandmother of 6 grandchildren. despite of the age, both of them are still in a great shape and a hell of a healthy fit ladies.

everyday, at 7 am i will walk to my neighbour's home and she'll drive us to taman tasik shah alam. the fresh air, morning dew and the greenery welcome us and we would start with brisk walking from one tasik to another. then, we join the aerobic class. i have a new sets of friends but most of them are in their 50s and 60s and they are either the wives to airline pilot captains, retired pilot captains and flight simulator instructors. so i realized there's plenty of jargon words as they speak. ha ha ha... on top of that some of them are filipinos converted to islam and they speak english and malay in their dialects. so i have buckle up and try my very best to fit in.

and just so you know, my sports shoe had died on me yesterday; so darling husband had promised to get me a new pair of pink trainers and new workout attires. i bet the workout stuffs am getting will be a booster to my new pursuit.

in addition to my pursuit, i plan to enroll myself in tasawuf & akidah and tafsir AlQuran classes at masjid negeri SA. well, that will happen only when i reschedule my activities. here's a thing, i have a confession. i am officially an ANGRY BIRD ADDICT! smashing the round pig faces makes me feel good! ha ha ha and i get angry and bitter everytime i lose a game. so when my kids are taking their naps, i would glue myself to iman's iPad2 to let loose.

i was falling sick that day. but this old body and mind of mine refused to stay at home and rest. so i went to the gardens alone and requested darling husband to meet me there and take me to a japanese joint for dinner. we were lucky enough that there wasnt any traffic on the highway from both ways; SA-The Gardens and KL-The Gardens.

he broke a darn good news. alhamdullilah....

so after strolling at midvalley and the gardens, we settled down at hokkaido-iciba for dinner. i was tired from the walking, on top of my unwell self while darling husband was also tired from the earlier morning, work, the on-going baloney he had to deal with O&G personnels and of course the wife who kept on whining about her new shoes. ha ha ha...

darling husband is super duper drown in work these days. i got frustrated at times, knowing that he couldnt be at home on time for dinner (after the dishes he requested to eat that night was all prepared and served on the table) due to his nature of work. but i know he's out there making a living, sacrificing everything for his family and when he's at it, i knew i had to sacrifice as well.

so it was just an ordinary monday when darling husband is at work, iman goes to school, i had to ran errands, ilham is gaining more knowledge and exploring things, i documented these!

ilham woke up with a minor cut from slamming a broken toy on his forehead the night before

abang iman is all geared up for school. note his attire? he had gym that day.

i had home made mushroom soup with potato buns for breakfast

at 11am, we had the aircond service team at home servicing our airconds and ilham was eagerly checking on them doing their thing

after fetching iman from school, we went to pizza hut @ subang parade for lunch. and later SIL joined us at the joint.

iman had agama islam homework to do. he claims that najib is his friend!

darling husband called and said he isnt coming back for dinner, so i cooked this up. didnt managed to eat the tempe though. ilham makan semua, including the sliced tomatoes!

while i was in the shower, i heard iman and ilham laughing their lungs out. and after 10 minutes, i spotted this on ilham. iman said he was teaching his adik what art means!

fun they had that night! hard time i had scrubbing those off!

after putting the kids to bed, i had some fruits and strawberry milk while waiting for darling husband to come home from work.

the whole household shuts down pretty late after shafeeqa's solemnization ceremony as my boys and their father wanted to sing and wish me happy birthday as the clock strikes 12. and they did it again the next morning. how sweet!

thirty three! freaking old but syukur. i had million feelings going through my heart that day. i couldnt believe that i am already 33!

tq for everything boys! i love you more!

so yes, i turned 33 last oct. on 2nd oct, to be precise. so that very day, darling husband and the boys took me for a japanase lunch in KL. at 33, having married for almost 6 years to a super busy husband and raising 2 rowdy and naughty kids i am indeed contented. a week prior turning 33, i took some time off and did a lot of thinking and REFLECTION.

as you all know, i have only boys at home. three of them! so everything i do, whenever i do it have always been surrounded by my boys. and my closet now filled with boys colors; blue & green. i wonder what happen to my favourite color? i guess i had to many attempts at fitting in. kesian kan?

darling husband was out of the country when i 'booked' 2 of dearest friends of mine for dinner. it was indeed a good date. too much laughter and serious talk over ribs, lamb and dessert. we wanted to continue with froyo but somehow one of us was tired.

my darling husband started his singing debut since he was barely in kindergarten. his passion in singing kicks off from his family weddings to karaoke contests and won a few trophies as early as 5 years old. but of course it was my MIL who initiated him to sing. it was purely one of fear busters of stage fright and he had learned to manage his fear of audience. MIL said he sings before a large crowd without a qualm. *hi 5 yang!*

so during his younger days, school holidays means BUSY BUSY BUSY. when other kids went for holidays and having a good rest, darling husband on the other hand occupied most of his school holidays performing for TV programs. ha ha ha... yeah, some of his performances were aired live on TV1 and TV3.

he is also no stranger at karaoke contests. this number; cinta kristal has helped him escaped from ragging by his seniors @ RMC. singing for his seniors was how he was ragged that time. apart from singing, he played the drums in RMC. but when we was studying @ hertfordshire university in UK, he sings but plays the guitar instead.

i am here not to brag about my husband nor his singing skills or whatever. BUT it's a life proof case that it's good to expose your children to social skills as it helps gaining self confidence, managing fear, failure and stress, ignoring distractions, learning self acceptance, anger dealing and of course peer acceptance.

it was indeed a life long learning for darling husband. i discovered that this has helped him transformed into a different persona when he deals with people. and he owes his mom big time! MIL mentions this always; "mama nak anak mama boleh buat semua benda." TQ for all your doa mama.

frankly speaking i am not really a fan of traditional kuih. i do eat them, enjoy every bite i had but i am plainly not a fan. i prefer cakes, donuts and ice cream lah. but having married to a typical malay man who has been brought up to idolize his mom's cooking, i knew some changes urgently needed to be done. no offense, but my dearest MIL serves us the best dishes ever and anyone would second that.

so one of darling husband's favourite kuih especially in ramadhan month is none other than badak berendam. and i made these the other day for tea.

this is the sweet coconut filing. grated coconut, gula melaka, salt and some water best cooked over slow fire.

the filing is now made into round balls

to make a soft dough, add glutinous rice flour, enough air daun pandan and a pitch of salt. then gaul sampai lenguh!

then roll the dough into round balls and make a small puddle in the middle.

insert the filling and roll it. iman says this looks like a mud puddle. yeah, whatever! daddy gonna eat it!

after much patience, rolling and effort, here's what i got. i was short of daun pandan that day, hence the color difference. must prepare plenty of blended daun pandan juice in advance.

rebus them. it will individually floats once they are well cooked.

the coconut gravy were prepared earlier, so once they are cooked, toss and put them in a bowl. then pour the coconut gravy.

btw, here's how the gravy were made. that day, i ran out of santan, so i only have 1 1/2 cup of coconut milk. add a bit of salt and cook till it thickens. and wallah. your badak berendam is ready to be eaten!

had passed a couple of open houses that day. after all the weighing and negotiation process, we decided to go to a dear friends' home quite far from our casa. the traffic snarl-up was the worst ever i have encountered and it took us unfairly an hour to get to jimmy+bagak's home.

i had enough of raya food, raya chaos and back to back aidilfitri open houses. so on 18 sept 2011, i opted for a change. darling husband was out golfing while i had a quiet brunch with a friend.

then my sister who was accompanying her husband to the gym brought iman along. so when i parted ways with my date, my sister parted ways with iman. then, i brought iman to pizzahut and ordered a personal pan for him.

then as soon as we reached home (after picking up my maid and ilham from my parents' home), both darling husband and i got ready for our neighbor's open house. we had a good time chatting and of course makan sampai pengsan.

on the way home (darling husband and i walked home with an umbrella - cute!) a cousin of mine called up and requested for iman to join his cousins for a swim at bunga raya condo. so tak sempat tukar baju, i send iman to BRC for a quick swim (2 hours lah!). then iman joined my cousins' family for dinner at KGNS before going home.
